As a material, glass is ubiquitous. However, it is more than just the screen on your smartphone. Glass is an artistic medium, capable of using a vibrant visual language to convey powerful ideas about who we are, and how we feel about the world around us. Like painters with a palette, glass artists harness the unique qualities of molten glass to make artwork capable of telling the same stories a...

Sarah rules!!!!
Gli artisti si trovano solo a Venezia.

You should make life size Skeletors Staff. I believe it's a ram head with horns if I had the money and equipment that's stuff I would be making and selling.
Neanderthal 🧠
Good job Sarah
Very unique, interesting, insightful presentation. You are very talented.
I lived in Tacoma for a while. On one rainy off-day, I went and spent about half a day there just sitting quietly in the observatory area watching the craftsmen work on glass pieces. It was a good day....
Bravo🎉
Persians in the house!
This was super interesting! I loved learning a bit about how working there versus having a residency feels. Thank you for the peek!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Nice, love the work
The class was so fun to watch!
Maybe this is covered later, but how do you clean up the end where the piece is cut off before annealing?
I believe you're supposed to torch off shards and cracks etc like firepolishing, then they cold grind it off
Cleaning up the end is called Coldworking. The remaining punti glass is ground off using various tools.
The Giger of Glass?

Hop you get to get 1000000 sub
That's a great shot of his elbow. Move the camera.
When they first put up the "artwork" in front of the museum of Glass, I spent 4 months wondering why the art was covered by blue trash bags. Imagine my surprise when I found out that was the artwork.
Master mold masker but also a total ….
I wish this had audio

Ryan should’ve been the winner! Also can’t believe how negative Karen was, saying she could care less to disappoint kids & how she didn’t bother to stand up & check to see how the actual piece was turning out. The assistants did a great job helping out and shouldn’t be taken for granted. I’m sure there are other contestants that would be more grateful & wish they had the opportunity to participate.
Who's doing the camera work? Please find someone else.
Thanks for your comments.
WOW THATS SO COOL?!??
Love her energy. Just finished watching season 4 of Blown Away on Netflix I was so sad to see her go. She's Awesome !
I'm so disappointed with how some of these contestants talk about the assistants... They get on tv and their egos explode. Blyth said "you end up working by yourself" that is the biggest lie. The assistants make it possible for you to make the work.
Outstanding teamwork and skill. Lino would be proud.
It's very cheap to dish the assistants, knowing very well that several of the assistants are better glass blowers than some of the candidates. They hauled heavy pieces of glass around for reheats while the artists remained seated on the bench. Shame on you for not recognising that.
Funkiest, cool. Thanks
😄🙌
5:34 Also actually not true. Initially only100 were made and an extra of 25 specially engraved for very high placed clientele with their names by the company itself. Some of the original productionnumber registration papers indicate there were made an extra of 50 but they are not signed for production, so we can't be sure they actually were porduced. Espacially the application of the metal hinge to the glass was a serious obstacle for mass production. We have the original prototype of this design in our museum with an oval shaped pearl inside.
3:12 Actually not true, It refers to Tax Horsepower or taxable horsepower. It was an early system of taxation rates for automobiles in some countries like Belgium, Britain and France.
2023?
Oh my gosh that came out SO GOOD!! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Super interesting to see the process
Glad you enjoyed it!
I have a goblet from Gabe Feenan and it is SO COOL!
Gabe is awesome!!
We dont get to see the finished product standing upright? Don’t link me to another video because I won’t go there. The algorithm brought me here and you let me down. My attention span, in this moment, is only so much.
Hello! Isn't that so frustrating! Every art form has a process, and even we didn't get to see this piece standing. This piece was then rushed an annealer (cooling oven) immediately after finishing. Then, promptly sold!
Wow that big octopus i want one.the skill of these people is unbelievable. 👏
Beautiful!!
This is amazing! Does the finished product go to the kid or do you keep it?
Every time we make a Kid Design we make one for the kid and another to put in the Museum's collection!
@@museumofglassthis was my question too. I love this answer!
